OpenStays.AI

Your Property Passport does not replace your PMS. Good.

If adding AI discovery means rebuilding your calendars, rates, payments and housekeeping workflows, somebody is selling you the wrong tool.

A Property Passport has a narrower job. It gives AI systems a public set of owner-approved property facts and a route back to your business. Your PMS and channel manager can keep doing the operational work they were bought to do.

Keep the source of truth you already trust

A vacation-rental PMS usually handles the moving parts behind a stay: reservations, guest messages, payments, cleaning tasks and reporting. A channel manager concentrates on distribution, keeping rates, availability and bookings aligned across connected booking sites.[1][7]

Those are live operational systems. Replacing them is a serious project, not a prerequisite for making a portfolio easier to discover.

OpenStays.AI does not process reservations or payments, sync calendars, update rates or become the merchant of record. It publishes a separate Property Passport for each stay, while the agency remains the route to book.[5]

That boundary is useful. Your team can improve discovery without moving the machinery that prevents double bookings or tells the cleaner where to go next.

Give search and AI systems a clean public answer

AI discovery starts with a simpler question: can a machine find the page and understand what the property actually offers?

Google advises site owners to keep important information in visible text, allow crawling, use helpful internal links and make structured data agree with the page. It does not require a special AI file or secret block of AI-only markup.[2]

ChatGPT Search has its own crawler control. OpenAI says OAI-SearchBot is used to surface websites in ChatGPT search, and its setting is independent from GPTBot, which is used for model training.[3]

That means an operator can make deliberate choices about public discovery. It also means a beautifully organised PMS record is not enough if the useful facts never reach a crawlable public page.

Publish stable facts, not a shadow booking engine

Start with facts that help a guest decide whether a property fits: capacity, bed layout, accessibility, pet rules, parking, useful location context, images and the official direct route.

VacationRental is a recognised Schema.org type for a lodging business that rents a single property for a limited time.[4] Google's supported vacation-rental markup can describe occupancy, beds, bedrooms, bathrooms, amenities, images and location.[6]

Do not turn that into a second calendar. Rates and availability change quickly and belong in the system your team already maintains. The Property Passport should send an interested guest to the approved booking route, where current commercial information can be checked.

This split also makes portfolio work more manageable. The PMS runs the stay. The channel manager keeps connected booking channels in sync. The Property Passport makes approved facts easier for search and AI systems to read.

Check the handoff before you scale

Test one property first.

  • Confirm the public facts match the property page your team maintains.
  • Choose the location detail and contact routes you are comfortable publishing.
  • Follow the direct link and make sure it lands on the right property, not a generic homepage.
  • Update the Passport when a stable fact changes.
  • Keep rates, availability, reservations and payments in the operational stack.

If that handoff works, repeat it across the portfolio. You do not need another PMS. You need each property to have a clear, accurate route into AI discovery.

Create your first free Property Passport, review every fact privately and publish only when it is ready to represent the stay.
